Internal politics is the main reason, where the CO had a conflict with the founder. Conflict was on the company's direction where the CO wanted to create bigger products, but the founder and most of the old HODs preferred the original model, clone apps of android/ios (in app advertisement model). Which led to the CO separating and the founder returning only to close many of the projects the CO started.
